Round 3 Teretonga

Round 3 of the Ace Hire SIFF Championship was held at Teretonga on the 7th of december.

I didn't have such a great start to the day with a gearbox issue in qualifying where the car would stay in 3rd gear and kept jumping out. I had to use 2nd and 4th gears to try and get a decent time for the race 1 grid.

Race 1

I started race 1 on grid 13 and it was also a damp track. I didn't get away from the line to badly and with the gearbox issue fixed i had a lot more speed and was able to work my way up to 6th position and 3rd in class.

Race 2

The track was dry and with a faster lap time in race 1 ment I jumped upto grid 10 for race 2. I had a pretty standard sort of race and moved up a couple of positions to finish in 8th place and also 2nd in class.

Race 3

With the improvements made to the car setup during the 1st and 2nd races i was able to put a time in good enough to start on grid 8 for the feature race. I had a very bad start and lost several positions by the time we got to turn 2. I had to work hard to get back to where i started but got there 2 laps from the end, but coming onto the last lap the car died on me 1/4 of the way down the main straight. This was a real shame and ment i had a DNF and therefor lost the class 2 points. I still sit 2nd in class and 7th overall.

Round 4 is the 16th to 18th of January at Ruapuna. I am currently still looking for funding but at this point it doesn't look likely that I will be able to make round 4. This is a huge shame but these things happen and I will look to the future

Round 2/NZFF Round 1

Round 2 of the SIFF was held at Timaru international raceway on the 15th of november. This also doubled as my first ever national series round. I qualified 9th which was to bad although it was slightly slower than my pace from last season.

Race 1

Starting from 9th position i was wanting to improve on position and also lap time so i could get a better starting spot for race 2. This wasn't to be as i had a high rev misfire which meant i had to sort shift and this slowly got worse. I pulled on lap 6 and got no points for the dnf.

Race 2

My pit crew managed to find the problem and fix it for me in time to get to the grid. I got an average start but managed to hold onto 9th and settle into the race behind Grant Campbell who i had a fantastic tussle with. I made several attempts at passing and finally made it stick at turn 1 with about 3 laps to go. I managed to pull a gap from Grant and cross the line in 6th place.

Race 3

I set a faster time in race 2 which meant i started off 8 for race 3. I got a great start and jumped up a position by the time we got to turn 1. Passing another car down the back straight i was upto 6th and right on the back of the leading group. I slowly drifted off the back of the front group but had a great race with Tom Alexander with a few position changes and managing to come home in 5th place and a new personal fastest lap.

Overall the weekend went well and i learnt lots. Our speed is going in the right direction and i now lead the class 2 SIFF Championship and am 2nd in the class 2 NZFF Championship.

Bring on Teretonga for round 3 on the 7th of December.

Round 1

Round 1 of the SIFF has been and gone. I had a tough start to the weekend by missing qualifying due to a gearbox issue. This meant i had to start from the back of the 21 strong grid. Working my way up during the day to have a 12th and two 8th place finishes. I had a bit of luck go my way with other things that happened on track and i came away from the weekend 5th overall and sitting 2nd in class.

I am very happy with how the weekend went considering how it started. Next round is Timaru on the 14th and 15th of november and this also doubles as round 1 of the NZFF which will be my first ever national series round and i can't wait to get on track.

Make sure you check out the rest of my blog as it has had a revamp for the new season.

2014/2015 Season

The 2014/2015 season is almost apon us. There has been plenty happening in the hunt for sponsors in an effort to compete in the NZ series as well as the South Island series. There will be a whole new look for Dyson Motorsport this season with the car changing colour, a new helmet paint job to match and some new sponsors onboard.

I hope to get some photos up in a couple of weeks so you can all see the new look for this season.

Round 1 of the South Island series is the 5th of October at Ruapuna.

January Results

Teretonga

We had a lot of rain during the weekend and it was our first meeting on a wet track. The weekend didn't go as we had planned with a couple of car issues that wouldn't go away. We struggled through but still got some good results considering.

Race 1 DNF
Race 2 1st
Race 3 2nd

Timaru

Timaru would have to be our best weekend to date. The car went fantastic no issues and we even got up and amongst the class 1 cars in the first to races.

Race 1 1st
Race 2 1st
Race 3 1st
