Round 2 of the SIFF was held at Timaru international raceway on the 15th of november. This also doubled as my first ever national series round. I qualified 9th which was to bad although it was slightly slower than my pace from last season.
Race 1
Starting from 9th position i was wanting to improve on position and also lap time so i could get a better starting spot for race 2. This wasn't to be as i had a high rev misfire which meant i had to sort shift and this slowly got worse. I pulled on lap 6 and got no points for the dnf.
Race 2
My pit crew managed to find the problem and fix it for me in time to get to the grid. I got an average start but managed to hold onto 9th and settle into the race behind Grant Campbell who i had a fantastic tussle with. I made several attempts at passing and finally made it stick at turn 1 with about 3 laps to go. I managed to pull a gap from Grant and cross the line in 6th place.
Race 3
I set a faster time in race 2 which meant i started off 8 for race 3. I got a great start and jumped up a position by the time we got to turn 1. Passing another car down the back straight i was upto 6th and right on the back of the leading group. I slowly drifted off the back of the front group but had a great race with Tom Alexander with a few position changes and managing to come home in 5th place and a new personal fastest lap.
Overall the weekend went well and i learnt lots. Our speed is going in the right direction and i now lead the class 2 SIFF Championship and am 2nd in the class 2 NZFF Championship.
Bring on Teretonga for round 3 on the 7th of December.

Round 1
Round 1 of the SIFF has been and gone. I had a tough start to the weekend by missing qualifying due to a gearbox issue. This meant i had to start from the back of the 21 strong grid. Working my way up during the day to have a 12th and two 8th place finishes. I had a bit of luck go my way with other things that happened on track and i came away from the weekend 5th overall and sitting 2nd in class.
I am very happy with how the weekend went considering how it started. Next round is Timaru on the 14th and 15th of november and this also doubles as round 1 of the NZFF which will be my first ever national series round and i can't wait to get on track.
Make sure you check out the rest of my blog as it has had a revamp for the new season.
